Some Newish Local Music
16 Jun
Here are a couple new tunes from local bands we like that have been sitting in our inbox for far too long, and so it’s about time we get them out. First up is the ever-epic Me And My Arrow, who have a whole new series of songs available. “ERAZOR” dropped May 18, “DAYNG” came on May 30 and “Revolver Reissue” dropped this week. The singles flow together with their heavy and hypnotic pulse and singer Jacob Grun’s ability to channel a rock ‘n’ roll heroism. Look out for the fourth and final single, “QUEENS” on its release date of June 26 in conjunction with the MAMA show at the 7th Street Entry with River City Extension.
Stream Single 1 : “ERAZOR”
Stream Single 2 : “DAYNG”
Stream Single 3 : “Revolver Reissue”
Also up is a new tune, “Super-Dowagiac” from Ghostmouth, which they say is “the result of a little bit of free time and a lot of boredom. It’s heavily inspired by IDM artists like Aphex Twin and Flying Lotus, and Experimental Rock Band Liars.” So there’s that, and it definitely has its own quirky charm. Ghostmouth plays at Stone Arch Bridge Festival this Sunday, June 17th at 3:45 PM.
Finally, here’s the new video for “Just a Kid”, the opening track to Lucy Michelle & The Velvet Lapelles’ newest full length, HEAT. Lucy & Co. have been getting some great press off the record and as this little ditty shows, it’s deserved. The Velvet Lapelles will be at the Basilica Block party, coming up on July 7. Enjoy!
