Shameless Self Promotion!

18 May

First of all, a huge thanks to all of our contributors over the last couple months. While Staciaann and c.a.s. have been crazy busy, this scribes have turned in some terrific reviews, moving memorials and witty, intelligent criticisms. Natalie Gallagher, Pat O’Brien, Rob Frost, Kyle Matteson and Brittany Ranck, you rock.

So, what have Staciaann and c.a.s.been running around doing over the last two months that meant that there have only been a handful of posts from them? We’ll tell you! (That’s the shameless self promotion part.) Staciaann has been hard at work for Damaged Goods Booking & Management (like ’em on Facebook, whydontcha?), getting line-ups ready for the Stone Arch Bridge Festival and for the Sample Room and their Art-a-Whirl 2012 shindig. Why, you say to yourself, because you are cool and hip and up on these things, that kicks off tonight! It surely does and along with all the madness going around Northeast, it’s going to be a great time, if we do say so ourselves.

For his part, c.a.s. wrote a play and has been wild deep in rehearsals. It’s called Care Enough, the theater company he is a part of, Savage Umbrella, is putting it up and it opens on Friday, June 1. Two weeks! Check out the Facebook event for more details, or browse the SU website. What’s it about, you ask? Love. It’s also about protest, change, how we hurt other people, failing alone and failing together, and some kick-ass choreography and fight sequences. It’s about me and you and everyone we know. Probably. Necessary disclaimers: 1) This show contains adult situations, simulated sex, simulated violence, and loud explosions. 2) This activity is funded, in part, by appropriations from the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the State’s general fund, and its arts and cultural heritage fund that was created by a vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008. Get under the umbrella!
