Cause Rocks Socks Cause
24 Feb
Alright, so it may not be a Variety-caliber headline, but you know that when Sauce Spirits & Soundbar changed it’s name to Cause last year, that some bands were going to take it as a challenge. This Saturday, there’s an opportunity for a concert with a cause as The Goondas, Pictures of Then, Me & My Arrow and I’m Not a Pilot take to the stage for a show where if you bring a pair of socks to donate, you’ll get half off the $6 cover. Socks are key to winter survival, and as we have all been cruelly reminded, winter isn’t going anywhere any time fast. Doors are at 9pm, so plenty of time to swing by Target to pick up some fresh new knee-highs.
You may also recognize three of those bands as local Minneapolitans doing us all proud, but what of that fourth band, I’m Not A Pilot? Besides having a pretty sweet album cover (above) they are in town touring from Milwaukee, and were voted “Best Rock Band 2010” by the readers of Shepherd Express, Milwaukee’s home-grown alternative paper and website. The four-piece consists of drums, bass, keys and cello- which means between them and Me & My Arrow, there are going to be a lot of classically-trained strings rocking out at Cause on Saturday. So, if you feel like experiencing Milwaukee’s best that comes with a piano and cello and not sparkling in a can, head on down to Cause, and come well stocked, waiting for a time when we can all wander around the lake in flip-flops and sun our collectively pasty Midwestern skin.
