Art Panel Discussions

30 Nov

One of the indisputable facts about the paintings of Scott West is that they are affected by music. Whether on stage with Cloud Cult or in his studio, sound and image are linked in the rhythm of his work, and this has been a central focus of his first gallery solo show, “STILL: New Works by Scott West”, which closes Sunday at Tarnish & Gold in Northeast.

Before it closes, though, there will be an event this Wednesday at 6pm, a panel discussion on that motivating relationship with a host of local musicians, artists, critics and creatives. The relationship between art and music will serve as a starting point for the discussion, with the panelists chosen because of their breadth of experiences and perspectives. The format will be a free-form conversation and Q&A hosted by c.a.s. of CakeIn15 and with this array of panelists, who knows where that conversation will go! Your attendance and questions would be greatly appreciated.

Panel discussion on the relationship between art and music, 6-8pm, Tarnish & Gold Gallery, 1511 Marshall Ave NE.
The panel will feature:

Scott West, artist & musician
John Megas, artist & critic for
John Burgess, writer & director, No One Said It Would Be Easy
James Burpee, painter & professor
Neal Perbix, artist & musician
Mark Mallman, musician & provocateur & all sorts of fun

Full disclosure: c.a.s. also helped with press and promotion for “STILL” through his arts consulting firm Crown & Sparrow. For the full list of press coverage, click here.

There will be a great discussion on “Minnesota’s Identity and the Arts” hosted by the Minneapolis Arts Commission tonight, Tuesday, at Intermedia Arts. Doors at 6 for a 7pm talk.
