Picking Up Crumbs: The Hold Steady

CakeIn15 loves The Hold Steady. We make no bones about it. We love watching Craig Finn get all wound up and bounce around, getting knocked down by Tad Kubler’s guitar licks, Franz Nicolay’s mustache, Galen’s meatheaded bass and Bobby Drake, well dammit, we love him too. So Staciaann took the drive down to Northfield to catch the hometown heroes tear up 22 songs in front of a salivating crowd of St. Olaf undergrads last Saturday. She took pictures and notes for The A.V. Club, who accurately note that St. Olaf is a dry campus and the irony of the very boozy Finn & Co. (that even sounds like a whiskey importer) playing their campus. But I’ve been down there, and The Hold Steady know it, the kids are gonna do what the kids are gonna do, so you might as well give them a soundtrack.
