Picking Up Crumbs: Fall Theatre Picks
10 Sep
You may have heard, I like theatre. Doin’ it, writin’ ’bout it, hangin’ out with the kids who do it, that kind of stuff. Unfortunately, even though we have a whole bunch of really great theatre going down in this town, we don’t really have too many people writing about it. Probably because it is difficult to get work from any of the papers on a regular basis these days (sorry Quentin) and also because it is difficult to get paid writing about something that lots of people do for cheap or free. Further, because there is a general sense of camaraderie in the scene and because you rely on those people for making it for future work, you don’t really want to step on anyone’s toes lest you lose future opportunities. Minnesota Nice probably also has something to do with why we don’t have knockdown critics brawls in this town. Lots of people sharing the same bed means no-one wants to fart under the covers.
Anyway, this has nothing to do with Lolcats (a web maguffin, if you will) or with farting, but it does have to do with the fact that The Onion does not have a dedicated theater writer on staff. So they asked me to pick some shows you should see this fall. Here is what I came up with. Enjoy!
