Some things to do in Mpls while Cake is in Chicago
17 Jul
Staciaann & c.a.s. are in Chicago this weekend covering the Pitchfork Music Festival, but here are a few things we’d attend, if we were lucky enough to be in Minneapolis this weekend.
Friday, July 17
Rock n’ Roll Minneapolis Opening Reception, Sauce, 7pm – 9:30pm (FREE)
The Twin Cities has a rich history in music and the arts, a history that continues to expand each year. Rock & Roll Minneapolis shares a merging of this prolific creative spirit: visual art made by local musicians. The exhibit also features photography of local musicians and bands, both currently playing and defunct.
*Ed Note: Cin15’s own Staciaann is showing photos at this, so she really wants you to go.

Nathan Rabin reads from his book The Big Rewind, Magers & Quinn, 7pm
Today, pop culture is his life. For more than a decade, he’s served as head writer for A.V. Club, the entertainment section of The Onion. In The Big Rewind, Rabin shares his too-strange-for-fiction life story. From a psilocybin-addled trip to the Anne Frank House to having focus groups for his movie-review panel show opine that all the male critics seemed “gay” and that the show as a whole was “too gay,” Rabin discusses his personal evolution in prose as hilarious as it is unexpectedly poignant.
Bedlam Theatre’s Sweet 16 Party with Mucca Pazza, Bedlam Theatre, 10pm
It’s a 30 piece circus punk marching band from Chicago, how can you go wrong? The Bedlam wants you to “Dress like you did when you were 16 and bring the photo to prove it. Reverse fake ids, birthday cake, contests and other antics abound.” Sounds like a good time to us!
