…..Freaky Friday…..
11 Feb
Isn’t it some sort of bad sign that it’s Friday the 13th the day before Valentines Day? Are more people dumped because of the ill-omens and dark portents of such a day, increasing the misery of the Hallmarkiest of Hallmark holidays? Let’s diagram this out. If (a) is the general dark spirit of Satan lurking o’er the curs’d day (actually, there is no record of this day being “evil” or “cursed” in any way up until some 19th century Italian gibberish) multiplied by (b), the number desperate phone calls to fancy restaurants before settling for MickeyD’s, and we divide it all by (c) which is the difference in the Hershey Corp stock price from February 14 to February 15, the resulting (d) must be Ned from Accounts Payable belting out Styx’s “Lady” hoping to impress the Janneane the temp at an impropmtu TGIFriday’s happy-hour after-work special. Either that or you wake up next to Cloris Leachman.
But I digress.
I was actually just going to tell you that the Hexagon Bar is holding a benefit for a new sound system and Cin15 pal Dearling Physique is playing a show at Clubhouse Jager on Friday. Really, that was all. The Hex gig is 13 bands on two stages, and since you never pay for music at the Hex, you should really pull out your wallets, open your hearts and mouths (to pour PBR into) and help ‘em fix up their ailing sound system. The lineup has a number of Hex regulars, and promises to bring some sick rock action all night long. The Dearling Physique gig is appropriately titled “Scary Love” and should bring some of that dark, broken, sexy electronica to the the hipster hideaway. So digressions, regressions, transgressions be damned. As always, go see local music.
